We search for an expert who will help us introduce a new technology of firmware to our portfolio of services as well as develop its long-term strategy. We need you to guide both us and our Clients worldwide on embedded software and firmware development too. Once the projects are acquired, we will ask you to build a great team of engineers to deliver the best solutions. You and your team will work closely with the C-level, Project Management and Growth Team to establish engineering schedules, resourcing, development priorities and much more. Your responsibilities will include but are not be limited to:
Contributing to the strategic direction of the company
Leading the specification, planning, and quotation of new projects
Consulting Clients and internal teams on solutions, stacks, and tools
Designing solutions and pitching them to key stakeholders both internally and externally
Building and leading the firmware team and their professional development: mentoring, advising, skill development planning
Rapid prototyping hardware solutions and firmware deployed on top of these prototypes
Working alongside our mobile teams to streamline, optimize or sometimes troubleshoot communication between device and companion app
Keeping track of the industry trends and taking the initiative in incorporating these into the company technologies
Leading knowledge-sharing efforts (such as Firmware community meetings)
Qualifications required:
5+ years of experience managing and leading Software (SW) and /or Firmware (FW) development teams (including software house/agency environment)
Demonstrated ability to manage projects through the entire FW product life cycle from Architecture through Customer release and deployment
Demonstrable experience with C development for embedded systems
Familiarity of common IoT related protocols like MQTT
Expert Bluetooth knowledge including BLE, Bluetooth Mesh and familiarity with all layers of Bluetooth stack
Expert familiarity with the landscape of connected devices (IoT, Home automation, Wearables, Automotive etc)
Experience with rapid hardware prototyping on Arduino/RaspberryPI/Beaglebone
Self-starter mentality with a high degree of ownership
Ability to decompose and explain complex technical problems to non-technical audience
Very good spoken and written English
Experience in Agile development practices, e.g.: scrum
Preferred qualifications:
Working knowledge of LoRa, Zigbee, Thread, WiFi, and other networking standards
Hands on experience with ZephyrOS or RTOS
Experience with nRF Connect SDK
Experience deploying and managing fleets of IoT devices with help of AWS IoT Core, GCP Cloud IoT, Azure IoT or similar
Demonstrated ability to partner across organizational and team boundaries to develop and execute cohesive product plans
Must work independently, be proactive, multitask effectively and exhibit strong influencing and leadership skills with senior management
